Inspiration Foundation Mission Statement:
The Inspiration Foundation exists to 1) provide adaptive technology for working age adults with vision loss and 2) create awareness and raise funds for nonprofits that support the blind and visually impaired community.
The Inspiration Foundation is a nonprofit organization that was created in 2006 by Isaac Shapiro as an ode to his mother who has been blind since the age of 7. Inspired his mother’s drive to function independently and her commitment to teaching others like herself, he created this organization to provide working age adults with severe vision loss with adaptive technology to help them advance in the professional world. With his strong business sense he also made it his mission to connect the business world with the nonprofit sector in an effort to raise awareness and funds for the blind and visually impaired community.
By empowering people with vision loss, the Inspiration Foundation promotes opportunities and programs that will help these individuals function independently. Unfortunately, 70% of blind and visually impaired adults are unemployed. In an effort to reduce this high unemployment rate the Inspiration Foundation encourages businesses to add functional Braille onto their products. In doing so the Inspiration Foundation hopes to encourage blind and visually impaired people to learn Braille.
